I look forward to purchasing an automatic sprouting system from you one of these days, though I presently own 2-quart jars, 1-quart jars and lids for low-tech sprouting. Sincerely, Patty Duke, DN

  • My question:
May I grow soft wheat for nutrition? What’s the downside of growing soft wheat instead of hard wheat for my health?

(I bought a 10 pound bag by mistake and do want to use it up…
Thank you for your valuable time to answer, and for your wonderful website.

  • Hello James,
Yes, you may sprout soft wheat for nutrition. Soft Wheat has 3 times the vitamin B content of regular wheat bread and it has 4 times the fiber content. It is also easier to digest than hard wheat sprouts. In my Kitchen Garden Cookbook I have several recipes for Sprouted Wheat Bread, Cookies, etc. including Sprout Wheat “Nuts”. Grow the soft wheat for 2-3 days for recipes.
Take advantage of the soft wheat sprouts, they are one of my favorites!
