QUESTION:
Mr Sproutman,
Thanks so very much for publishing Sprouts The Miracle Food. I cannot put this book down…there is so much I want to do…so much to learn. I’m graduating from the JAR !!!!
I recently purchased products to grow soil “MicroGreens”. A lot more work & more difficult to maintain proper climate, PH, etc. What I need to know: Are the Hydroponic seeds I purchased able to be used in the “Fresh Life Sprouter”? You also suggest to hatch the garlic & onion seeds first & then transfer them to a 6″ sprouter. What is a 6″sprouter & where do I get it if it is not the Fresh Life Sprouter?
Thank you for your assistance.
Martha
ANSWER:
Dear Martha,
I am delighted to hear that you enjoy my book Sprouts The Miracle Food. First I would need to know the name of the seeds you are trying to sprout. Second, ideally you can hatch garlic and onion seeds in a Sprout Bag and then transfer them to the Freshlife Automatic Sprouter or the Freshlife Manual Hand Watering Sprouter. The Freshlife Sprouter is the replacement for the 6″ Sprouter. Pictured are garlic sprouts.
Sincerely,

by Steve Meyerowitz, “Sproutman”
Occasionally, I get asked “what do you eat?” I understand that it is a natural curiosity especially for those starting out on their health journey. But a classroom or lectern are poor places to truly answer such a question and I typically demur. Actually, I have trouble with the question. In my opinion, we all need to tailor our diets to our personal needs and my diet should never be your diet. Just as on the outside we all dress differently, on the inside our organs and glands are also unique. Rather, I recommend we listen to our bodies and be guided by the signals we get and then feed ourselves accordingly. That being said, I also understand the value of comparison and example. So finally, I have given in. What follows is a sort of typical day for me with the focus on food. I hope you find something in it for you.

DEAR SPROUTMAN: I have your Kitchen Garden book and just love it. We are making the sprouted bread weekly and love it…My question…might you have an idea of what the calorie count might be for the suggested size of the bread. I get three loaves of approx. 3×3 inches and about 3/4 to 1 inch deep. Even an approximation would help greatly. Thanks for any insight you might be able to give. – Patricia Read the rest of this entry »

Here’s a list of my favorite sprouts. . .
What they taste like. . .
What they look like. . .
How to grow them. . .
And how many days they take to grow.
KEY:
VERTICAL: Describes any type of sprouts that allows the sprouts to grow straight up, just like plants grow in an outdoor garden.BAG: Describes one of my favorite methods of growing sprouts – with a sprout bag. If you don’t have one of these fabric bags, you can substitute with a jar. But jar sprouting it not as good because it does not breathe or drain perfectly and that causes problems.
DAYS: Describes how many days it takes for the sprouts to be ready for harvest. It can vary up or down a day depending on temperature and season.
SUNFLOWER:Large 6-7″ tall, hardy green leaf. Rich flavor. Vertical, Days=8.BROCCOLI:Rich broccoli flavor, small green leaf. Salads. Vertical or sprout bag, Days=6.FRENCH ONION:Absolutely delicious. Baby onion greens. A must. Vertical or bag, Days=14.Tags: cleanse, cleansing, digestion, food combining, health, juicing, seeds, sprout bread, sprouting, sprouts
