Here is a photo of Nicky enjoying some sunflower sprouts at my table at the New York Capital Region’s Vegetarian Festival.

Nicky was one of over 1500 at New York Capital Region’s Vegetarian Festival in Albany New York.  attendees and it felt like I got to speak to every one of them! A very enthusiastic crowd and with the Northeast Winter ahead, a lot of them are now looking forward to growing living foods right in their kitchens. No soil, no green thumb required.

There were a dozen national known speakers talking about the environment, your health, and animal rights. And also this great cruelty-free fashion show where several very attractive male and female models showcased vegan clothing lines from nationally known clothing designers.  There was a young and vibrant crowd watching and it was lots of fun.

Besides Sproutman some of the exhibitors there were: Catskill Animal Sanctuary, Eatingfoodraw.com, Emmy’s Organics, Environmental Advocates of New York, Equal Exchange Coop, Javafit Coffee, Mercy for Animals, Family Wellness Center, The Power of a Plant Based Diet, The Vegetarian Resource Group, T.O.F.U. Magazine, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, X’s To O’s Vegan Bakery, Zorbas Natural Food, to name a few.

Also there was the not-to-forget North American Vegetarian Society which holds a not-to-be-missed convention in Johnstown Penn. every summer. Check it out at  www.vegetariansummerfest.org.

Most of the vendor sold out of all their goods prior to the end of the expo.  A great time was had by all.

Thanks so very much for publishing Sprouts The Miracle Food.  I cannot put this book down…there is so much I want to do…so much to learn. I’m graduating from the JAR !!!!

I recently purchased products to grow soil “MicroGreens”. A lot more work & more difficult to maintain proper climate, PH, etc. What I need to know: Are the Hydroponic seeds I purchased able to be used in the “Fresh Life Sprouter”? You also suggest to hatch the garlic & onion seeds first & then transfer them to a 6″ sprouter.  What is a 6″sprouter & where do I get it if it is not the Fresh Life Sprouter?

Dear Martha,

I am delighted to hear that you enjoy my book Sprouts The Miracle Food.  First I would need to know the name of the seeds you are trying to sprout.  Second, ideally you can hatch garlic and onion seeds in a Sprout Bag and then transfer them to the Freshlife Automatic Sprouter or the Freshlife Manual Hand Watering Sprouter.  The Freshlife Sprouter is the replacement for the 6″ Sprouter.  Pictured are garlic sprouts.
