Hello Valerie,
Please buy fresh green peas from my website and try again. Speckled is not necessarily what you want. You want seeds tested for growing pea shoots. You can find them on my organic seeds page.

Richard,
May I recommend you use my non-electric 3 tier Wheatgrass Grower. You can find it here: http://www.sproutman.com/wheatgrass-products/sproutmans-soil-or-soil-free-wheatgrass-grower It comes as 3 shelves but you can expand or contract as you need to. It can grow your wheatgrass or any of the microgreens or any of the baby greens. Just lay a paper towel down if doing the small seeds. (Read the instructions or search for towel on my sprout blog or website.) That and seeds is all you need. In terms of space it is 13x19 which is larger than the Freshlife but it produces more volume. The Freshlife hand watering sprouter http://www.sproutman.com/sprouters/sproutmans-hand-watering-freshlife-sprouter is also a great non-electric choice and it is only 11 inches in diameter. But it produces less volume. Choose one or the other. Of course, my sprout bag is the easiest and takes up Zero counter space but it won't grow wheatgrass. It does many other fantastic things, though and it really popular with hikers and boaters. Check out the pictures on http://www.sproutman.com/sprouters/sproutmans-natural-hemp-sprout-bag . Happy Sailing, Sproutman

Hi,

I have a question or maybe a challenge. We would like to live on a sailboat one day. The problems with sailboats are space, fresh water and power (DC, 12 volts). We are trying to take 8 shots of wheatgrass between us a day. That leaves the growing of sprouts and juicing and fruit to fill our diets.

Do you have any ideas about what equipment and the details of just how much we can produce underway... Much like an apartment but it floats and sails across large bodies of water.

Thank you for your time.

Sail ON...

I own 4 double barrel freshlife automatic sprouters. I need to grow speckled green pea and sunflower sprouts.

I am having difficulty with growing full barrels of pea sprouts. I have tried the following: soaking seeds, planting more seeds (3TBSP), planting less seeds (2TBSP), adding liquid minerals to water, keeping room temp 68-72 during winter. But, my pea sprouts are very thin, light green color and with lots of seeds left in the bottom of the barrel.

Please help me with my speckled green pea sprouts.

I am planning on attending the Kitchen Gardening talk on 9/10. In the email, the super charged micro-greens are mentioned as the topic of the presentation. Do you have references for the chemical analysis that documents the nutritional content of various micro-greens? I've been unable to find any such data.
Regards,
Mark Dausch

Hello James,
Yes, you may sprout soft wheat for nutrition. Soft Wheat has 3 times the vitamin B content of regular wheat bread and it has 4 times the fiber content. It is also easier to digest than hard wheat sprouts. In my Kitchen Garden Cookbook I have several recipes for Sprouted Wheat Bread, Cookies, etc. including Sprout Wheat "Nuts". Grow the soft wheat for 2-3 days for recipes.
Take advantage of the soft wheat sprouts, they are one of my favorites!

My question:
May I grow soft wheat for nutrition? What's the downside of growing soft wheat instead of hard wheat for my health?

(I bought a 10 pound bag by mistake and do want to use it up...
Thank you for your valuable time to answer, and for your wonderful website.
