KDF effectively removes chlorine, lead, iron, arsenic, mercury, and hydrogen sulfide. A stainless steel mesh strainer filters out dirt and sediment.

The ShowerSmart Water Filter contains more KDF 55 than most other shower filters. Unlike carbon filters which are damaged by hot water, KDF works best in warm or hot water and has 10 to 20 times the life of any carbon-only filter. Life expectancy is about 15,000 gallons compared to 400 to 800 gallons for carbon. Reverse the cartridge every six months and replace it after two years. It takes literally one minute to unscrew by hand and reverse or change it.
